The Infrastructure Department of the Mijas Town Hall is currently analysing the documentation submitted by each bidder to move forward with the contract award process. The works will have a completion period of 14 months from their start.
First phase: pitch replacement
Replacing the pitch will be the first phase of the project, with a specific budget of 1,180,694 million euros out of the total amount. A state-of-the-art turf surface will be installed to provide better performance and quality. It will feature high resistance to abrasion and ultraviolet rays, improving ball bounce and roll control.
In terms of sports equipment, the project includes replacing the 11-a-side and 7-a-side football goals, the latter fitted with wheels to prevent turf abrasion when moved, as well as new benches for substitutes and referees, and corner flags. The drainage system will also be renewed. The final pitch must meet the regulatory dimensions for 1ª RFEF (the third tier of Spanish football).
The successful bidder will be required to guarantee that all other facilities in the complex remain open during the first phase (the scheduled pitch replacement). Furthermore, the temporary use of these facilities must not disrupt the planned works for the second and third phases, which must be fully compatible with the ongoing use of the pitch.
Second phase: covered stands
The second phase involves demolishing the current building, which houses changing rooms, a storeroom and a plant room, and replacing it with a functional facility featuring covered stands, entrances with ticket offices, a reception and administration area, a meeting room, changing rooms with showers and lockers, a storeroom, accessible public toilets, a café and a terrace.
It will also include a multi-purpose space for complementary sports activities, such as a training and weight room. This part of the project has a specific budget of 5.2 million euros.

The new building will feature covered stands on the upper floor, with a capacity for approximately 960 seated spectators and 11 spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility. These are designed to ensure good visibility of the pitch and protect spectators from the weather.
Regarding the external remodeling and the expansion of the car park, the works have a budget of 523,624 euros. The contractor will work on an area of over 4,500 square meters to improve access.
Energy-saving and efficiency measures
Before signing the formal site possession and commencement order, the contractor must submit an action plan to implement sustainability measures throughout the project. These must aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, incorporate energy-saving and efficiency measures, utilize renewable energy sources, or promote material recycling.
