The government team validates the in plenary session the text that will be signed with the Andalusian Health Service to make this facility possible

On Monday 22nd, the government team approved the collaboration agreement between the Andalusian Health Service of the Junta de Andalucía and the Mijas Town Hall for the drafting of the construction project and the execution project of the new ‘Centro de Alta Resolución de procesos’ (CARP), Mijas High Resolution Process Centre, within the framework of the general protocol signed for the construction and commissioning of this centre. “Today, we are taking a very important step in Mijas to secure the infrastructure that the people of Mijas have deserved for a very long time. It is the infrastructure that will serve each and every one of us in Mijas, from primary care to specialities and, of course, some outpatient operations, which may require a stay of one or two days at the CARP”, said the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), during her speech.

  • El equipo de gobierno, en el momento de la votación

During the presentation of this item, the spokesperson for the Popular Party, Mario Bravo, stated that “today we are here to tell you that we have signed an agreement with the Junta de Andalucía to do this and that, in addition, we are going to allocate 625,000 euros, which will be included in the next budget, to draft the project and make it a reality. For his part, the Vox spokesperson at the Mijas Town Hall, Juan Carlos Cuevas Dawson, emphasised that this step does not mean giving up on the hospital: “Our obligation today is to secure the present, to approve it with a serious agreement, with legal backing, with technical planning, and with defined funding for drafting the project, while at the same time continuing to work to make the hospital a reality”.

Criticism

The PSOE councillor Josele González accused the government team of deceiving the people of Mijas and giving up on the hospital. “What Mijas needs is a hospital, and what the citizens expect is that you fight for a hospital, not for a High Resolution Process Centre, which is completely insufficient. The proposal you are bringing today is to bury the hospital proposal”. The spokesperson for Cs, José Carlos Martín, expressed his disagreement with the Town Hall paying for the construction of the new centre and stated: “Say that the money we are going to spend now on this health infrastructure will only give us the same services but in a new building; we are not going to have two health centres or two CAREs”.

Government team’s response

In response to the opposition, the government team pointed out that the only administration to advance Mijas’ healthcare infrastructure has been the current one. “This is the solution that this team formed by the PP, Vox and PMP has found in these two short years of government, and we believe it is the most appropriate one. We want to implement it as soon as possible, which is why we are bringing it to the plenary session”, said Bravo.

Finally, Mata asked the opposition to stop “demagoguery, which only serves to deceive the citizens, and we already know who repeatedly deceives the citizens. Therefore, today we are taking a very decisive step towards improving public health in our municipality”.
