Extranjeros celebrates its first International Christmas Show at Las Lagunas Theatre

The Las Lagunas Theatre was vibrant with colour and Christmas spirit on Wednesday 15th. Several groups from different countries came together for the first International Christmas Show organised by the Foreigners Department.  International Christmas traditions were present on stage, and Father Christmas welcomed the audience, who enjoyed more than an hour of performances. “It is a show that we have prepared with a lot of love. Last year, unfortunately, we could not play our traditional Christmas concert, so we wanted to do something special. This is the first special Christmas show that we do for Spanish and foreigners living in Mijas,” said the Councillor for the area, Arancha Lopez (Cs). “We are all wearing masks, but we are very excited about this new event that we have organised,” added Katja Thirion, the Department’s Technician. The dancers from the Pop Fama academy put together a varied show and added a touch of charm and magic to the evening. “I’m always here for whatever you ask me to, because standing still is not an option. So, here, we are with my wonderful boys and girls, dressed in different countries, with a great variety of performances for you to enjoy,” said the director, Manuela Veronese. T.A.P.A.S Choir provided an elegant touch. Choir, Phoenix Singers and the Tims Choir, were also loyal to the Department. “We love being part of this show,” said Helen Rush of the T.A.P.A.S. Choir. The event was attended by part of the government team, including the first Deputy Mayor, José Carlos Martín (Cs) and Councillors Roy Pérez (PSOE), Mari Carmen González (Cs) and Verónica Ensberg (PSOE), as well as the Councillor of the Municipal Group PP of Mijas Daniel GómezTeruel. “After the pandemic, bringing back the international Christmas concerts is very emotional. It is a tradition of decades and this moment of union with the foreign community has been good news for everyone”, said Roy Pérez. For his part, the Popular Councillor also referred to the event as a “very nice multicultural show. Mijas has many cultures, as has been shown here. Fortunately, we have such a variety of cultures”. Also, Spanish art was present in the show. Víctor Rojas and his dancers once again demonstrated their power on the stage. “The show was beautiful, with a great variety of cultures and artists,” said Rojas. And we couldn’t miss our traditional pastorales, by the hand of the Cali pastoral La Rosa. “We are here to give a Spanish and Mijas touch to this show,” commented the director, Lorenzo López.
