The Mayor Josele González (PSOE), and the Fiestas Councillor, Tamara Vera (PSOE), presented, on Thursday 23rd, the programme for the Feria de Las Lagunas 2022, which will take place from 29th June to 3rd July. This will be the first fair to be held in the municipality of Mijas after the pandemic. “We are going to have a busy schedule of events and activities where music, once again, will be one of the main protagonists with the stellar performances of Don Patricio, Cepeda and Camela. We have also made an important contribution to maintaining our traditions, such as the threshing exhibition which, little by little, is being lost but in Mijas is maintained thanks to the ‘Peña Flamenca Unión del Cante’, which is helping us to organise the event on Sunday the 3rd”, said the Councillor. He added that this year “the daytime fair will be moved to the area around Cortijo Don Elías, right next to the fairgrounds”.
On the other hand, Gonzalez recalled that “few towns or cities can boast of having large fairs in their municipality, and here we have three, Las Lagunas, La Cala and Mijas Pueblo. There are many reasons to come to the Feria de Las Lagunas, quality musical performances, and participatory events for everyone. In short, it is going to be an extraordinary fair and, above all, one that we are going to enjoy with great enthusiasm after these two pandemic years”. Thus, the Las Lagunas Fair will begin on Wednesday the 29th of June with the special children’s day, which will have the attractions of the fair at a special price of two euros. From 7 pm to 9 pm, both the music and the characteristic sound of the rides will be cut so that children with special needs can enjoy the fair by eliminating the acoustic barriers. This is a prelude to the kick-off of the fair, which will take place at 10 pm with the traditional switch-on lighting. Afterwards, the municipal booth will host the election of the candidates for Queen, King, Ladies and companions of the fair.
