Mijas remembers the disappeared with the reading of a manifesto

The City Council received a diploma and an insignia for “accompanying” families of missing persons for more than a decade

On the occasion of 9M, the Day of the Missing Persons without Apparent Cause, members of the municipal corporation, led by the Mayor, Josele González (PSOE), and neighbours gathered at the doors of the Town Hall. There, the patron of the European Foundation for Missing Persons QSDglobal Carmen Gómez read out the manifesto of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and remembered not only her brother, the hiker Juan Antonio Gómez Alarcón, who was last seen in 2010, but also the other four missing persons in Mijas: Amy Fitzpatrick, Isabel María Cortés, Francisco Ruiz and John M. Leach.

9M Programme

MIjas has commemorated the 9M, Day of the missing persons without apparent cause, with a rally led by the Mayor of Mijas, Josele González, and the reading of the manifesto of the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) by Carmen Gómez, sister of the missing person from Mijas Juan Antonio Gómez Alarcón. A commemorative canvas was also installed on the balcony of the town hall.

Recognition

The City Council received a diploma and an insignia for “accompanying” families of missing persons for more than a decade on Friday 4th, in the former Senate’s plenary hall from the European Foundation for Missing Persons QSDglobal, which is promoted by the journalist Paco Lobatón.
