The councillor for Operational Services and Beaches, Daniel Gómez Teruel, took stock on Friday of the consequences of the storm on the coast. He assured that the prevention work carried out by the Town Hall during these months has been key to minimising the impact of the cold front in Mijas. "Thanks to this work, the volume of reeds that have reached the coastline has been greatly minimised, the fact is that the easterly wind has dragged the reeds towards our coast", explained the councillor for Beaches and Operational Services, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP).

The operation set up by the Mijas Town Hall to remove all the reeds that have appeared on the coastline worked last week on the beaches of La Cala, Calahonda, Riviera and La Luna, among others. "There are 50 workers from Renta Básica and Operational Services, who are also accumulating the reeds and transporting them to load them into the containers", said Teruel, adding that the aim is that during the next week our beaches will be back to their usual state. Teruel also assured that "yesterday, Thursday, the work focused on removing cans and plastics and today we are putting the emphasis on the reeds".

In others, such as El Ejido, El Charcón or El Faro, which are the ones that accumulate the most reeds, action will be taken this week due to their difficult access because of the easterly storm, underlined Gómez Teruel.
