This Friday sees the start of the 1st Craft Beer, Ham and Cuerd Meats Festival, which will take place in Plaza Virgen de la Peña on the 17th, 18th and 19th of July, starting at 18:00. This initiative by the Town Hall and the Mijas Association of Business Owners and Traders has a clear aim: to ensure that residents and visitors alike have a great time.

Seventeen establishments are taking part, offering a wide variety of culinary delights, with ham taking centre stage, accompanied by a carefully selected range of craft beers. There will also be plenty of cured meats and a wide variety of tapas to suit all tastes.

The atmosphere will be another of the event’s major attractions, featuring live music and cultural activities, including flamenco dance shows. On Friday, to kick off the festival, ZiryaB will take to the stage to pay tribute to Andalusian rock from 22:30. On Saturday, it will be the turn of the band Miranda, also at 22:30, while on Sunday the line-up will be rounded off by Francis León, with a concert scheduled for 23;00.

Football fans will also have their own dedicated areas. The World Cup final can be watched live on a giant screen set up at the venue from 21:00, allowing spectators to enjoy the match in an unbeatable atmosphere.

Another key event in Mijas Pueblo on Friday will be the Blues Night at the municipal auditorium. Admission is in exchange for a charity donation, with non-perishable food items or personal hygiene products collected for the local food bank. Highlights of the line-up include the Vargas Blues Band and ‘A Piece of Janis’, featuring Noe Sakura (a tribute to Janis Joplin).

On Saturday, the activities begin in La Cala de Mijas, where the Solidarity Tables market will be set up outside the Town Hall branch office from 11:00 to 14:00. the action moves up to Mijas Pueblo, with live flamenco in Plaza de la Constitución. Later in the evening, the Manuel España Theatre courtyard will host ‘Popular Dance: Tango and Other Rhythms’ from 20:30 to 23:30.
