The Mijas Town Hall, through its Parks and Gardens department, opened the Gran Parque splash park to the public on Friday 12th. The 430-square-metre facility features 41 interactive elements and attractions, making it one of the largest and best-equipped of its kind in Andalusia.
The water park will be open daily from 10:00 to 22:00, with a maximum capacity of 65 children. It features three age-specific zones: Toddlers (1 to 3 years), Kids (4 to 9 years) and Teens (10 and 11 years). Each zone offers experiences tailored to the different stages of child development, aiming to promote inclusive, safe, and engaging play for all ages.

The 41 interactive features of the splash park include water jets, triggers, tipping buckets, mini-slides and sensory features like Riversense, designed to stimulate exploration and discovery through water.
Quality control
This space offers an outdoor leisure alternative combining thermal comfort, physical activity, and socialisation, as announced on Friday 12th by the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), who explained that the facility has already passed mandatory health and pH checks.
The splash park uses a closed-loop water system, meaning all water is recycled. It also features special non-slip flooring to ensure user safety.
Rules of use
Regarding the rules of use, balloons, balls, motorised vehicles, bicycles, and similar items are prohibited. Furthermore, children under eight must be accompanied by an adult, and babies must wear swim nappies.
The councillor said: “All I ask is what I always ask: a little civic-mindedness and awareness that this belongs to everyone. We need to look after it together so that it lasts and can be enjoyed for years to come".
This is the second facility of its kind in the municipality, following the water park in Las Cañadas, which opened to the public on Monday 8th very week.
