Villa Alhamar care home celebrated its 28th anniversary this Friday with a lovely get-together attended by residents, relatives, and staff. n addition to a large lunch in the grounds, the event featured music, dancing, and activities to mark the special occasion.
As its director, María del Mar Blanco, explained, Villa Alhamar began operating 28 years ago in a house in the neighbouring town of Fuengirola, caring for just 10 residents. The centre grew rapidly, moving near the Mijas road, and is now once again operating at full capacity due to high demand, “but we remain one big family, we are very close, and we have almost one staff member for every resident”, she noted, adding that “the care home has a capacity of 80 places and our workforce exceeds 60 employees”.

It is a place where a wonderful atmosphere reigns, as the residents themselves assured. “All the staff are very kind and have a lot of patience with us, and mind you, sometimes we all want things at the same time, which just isn't possible”, said Sagrario Arana, a resident of this care home for just over two years.
The mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), who did not want to miss this celebration, also witnessed this warm care firsthand. She pointed out that “the staff go above and beyond for them, looking after them, showing them affection, and, above all, attending to those health issues that crop up, those ‘creaking joints' as many of us say, which deserve to be managed in the best possible way”.
Alhamar is committed to healthy and happy ageing, and looking at everyone's faces, it seems they are succeeding.
