The UP in Mijas presents its new programme of activities for the 2026/2027 academic year, consolidating its position once again as a cultural, educational and social hub for the municipality. With a wide-ranging, diverse programme tailored to all ages, the UP remains committed to learning, creativity and community through workshops and disciplines that foster both personal development and citizen participation.
The Town Hall reports that the new programme “includes significant new features that further enrich the educational and cultural offering”. Among these, the ‘Digital Image and Sound’ workshop stands out, an “innovative initiative” that introduces students to the audiovisual world from a practical and creative perspective, exploring photography, video and cinematic narrative using modern technological tools.
Also included is the ‘Generative Artificial Intelligence for All’ course, running in both Las Lagunas and Mijas Pueblo, introducing the public to one of the most significant technologies of the present and future in an accessible way, adapted to all levels.
Cinema
In the arts and culture sector, new initiatives stand out, such as ‘Cinematic Narrative’, aimed at young people and adults interested in audiovisual language and content creation; the new ‘Art Laboratory’ for young people, which encourages artistic experimentation and creativity; and the new ‘Folk Dance’ groups for adults and children, reviving and promoting popular traditions.

Languages
Likewise, the range of language courses is being expanded with new English groups for retirees and Spanish for foreign children, addressing the needs of children and familiesarriving in our municipality who must integrate into the educational community through the new language, “thus reinforcing the UP’s commitment to inclusion, integration and lifelong learning”, they highlighted from the Town Hall.
In the area of wellbeing and health, new activities such as adapted yoga are being introduced, facilitating access to physical activity and personal care for a wider range of students.
The programme once again extends to Las Lagunas, Mijas Pueblo, La Cala and rural areas, “bringing culture and education to every corner of the municipality and offering options for all ages and levels”, the UP stated.

Registration
Regarding registration deadlines, the first period is reserved for currently enrolled students, from the 18th of May to the 5th of June. Subsequently, the period for new residents will be open from the 8th to the 26th of June.
UP Mijas encourages all residents to take part in this new year “where everything makes sense”, promoting spaces for meeting, learning and shared growth.
