From the 28th to the 31st of May, La Cala Boulevard will be transformed into a stage for coexistence, culture, and diversity with the 2nd ‘Somos Uno’ Festival. This multicultural event will bring together live music, international gastronomy, and traditional dances from various countries. The festival, organised by the Asociación Cubanos Unidos in collaboration with the Town Hall, will run from 12:00 to midnight. It will feature cultural and gastronomic representatives from eleven countries, including Argentina, the Netherlands, Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Uruguay, Spain, Peru, Chile, Italy and Japan, with a special collaboration from Senegal featuring various performances.

 

For four days, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy musical performances, folklore exhibitions, traditional dances and a wide range of international cuisine, transforming the venue into a space where cultures come together through music, art and tradition. The event aims to promote integration, respect and cultural exchange among the different communities living on the Costa del Sol.

According to the councillor for Public Spaces, Melisa Ceballos (PP), “with this second edition, the festival reaffirms its commitment to diversity and coexistence under a common message: different cultures, one community. Mijas becomes a meeting place where diverse cultures, countries and traditions come together, all under the umbrella of respect and the promotion of cultural diversity”.

According to Mónika Delgado, organiser and president of the Asociación Cubanos Unidos, “we have also requested the collaboration of the Mijas Craft Association to set up a stall. It will be a great celebration of culture. Each participating country will offer us the best its typical and traditional food and drink, and live performances will take place on stage throughout the afternoon and evening. It will be a great celebration of integration”.
