The Ukrainian Association Espacio Cultural announces that there will be further exhibitions featuring this painter to mark the centenary of her birth in 2027

The Ukrainian Centre Familia Unida, which opened last November, has reopened its doors to promote Ukrainian art and culture with a new exhibition, its second so far this year. On this occasion, it is showcasing the art of Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit, a compatriot whose birth centenary will be celebrated next year. Known for various creative facets, including her work as a writer, she passed away in 1998.

The exhibition of icons by Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit was inaugurated last Friday 17th by the Ukrainian Association Espacio Cultural. “This is the first exhibition because she was born on the 12th of January 1927 and next year we will be celebrating the centenary of her birth.” “This lady was a very special person; she was the only one who painted this type of artwork featuring ecclesiastical figures”, explained the president of the association, Galyna Lisnycha.

Representing the local government, councillor Silvia Marín (PP), who visited the exhibition alongside fellow councillor Juan José Torres Trella (PP), praised the work of this Ukrainian collective and highlighted the artist’s profile. “They wanted to pay tribute to an artist from their country, though no longer with us, she was a great artist in both painting and writing, having authored many books”, noted Marin, adding that the association “wished to focus on one style, the religious, although she has many more works in other, more contemporary styles”.
