A delegation from the Bulgarian municipality of Gurkovo visited Mijas on Monday, 26th of January, with the aim of establishing alliances and carrying out future collaborations. "The aim of this meeting, which is part of a European collaboration programme, is simply to exchange views on tourism in general and on the donkey as a symbol, which is also preserved in their city, where they even produce cheese and milk from donkeys, and which appears to be a major attraction in Bulgaria", said the councillor for Foreigners, Mario Bravo (PP), who, together with the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), welcomed the delegation led by the mayor of Gurkovo, Kancho Papazov, who stated that "we are very grateful for this reception and hope that in the future the two Town Halls will carry out fruitful work for both municipalities".

Bravo also noted that “the Town Hall has signed a collaboration protocol to continue exchanging ideas to preserve the donkey as a traditional symbol, while also treating it with the care and attention it deserves, as required by current legislation".
