Mijas allocates 680,000 euros to social and citizen participation organisations

  • El encuentro, que tuvo lugar en la Tenencia de Alcaldía de Las Lagunas, estuvo presidido por la alcaldesa de la ciudad, Ana Mata.

The calls for grants have already been published in the Official Provincial Bulletin and are intended to fund the activities of various groups

A few weeks ago, the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), announced that the Town Hall had already designed a call for grants aimed at social entities and those that promote citizen participation. On Wednesday 14th, a further step was taken with the publication of the call for organisations to submit their projects to access these grants, for which the Mijas Town Hall has set aside 680,000 euros (570,00 euros for third sector associations and 110,000 euros for citizen participation associations).

Specifically, these amounts are intended to enable organisations to continue their ongoing activities, all within the framework of the new General Subsidy Ordinance. The new regulations are aligned with the Subsidies Act and guarantee equal opportunities, competitive bidding, clarity, legal certainty and transparency. In this case, the calls for subsidies correspond to activities carried out in 2025, they are awarded retrospectively.

Third sector organisations

With regard to third sector organisations, for which the eligible amount is 570,000 euros, a series of requirements has been established for groups to be eligible. Applicants must be registered in the Municipal Register of Associations, have been declared of public utility, operate in Mijas and be up to date with their tax obligations, including those owed to the Town Hall.

Four eligible funding lines have been established: grants for the development of projects aimed at the social or socio-occupational inclusion of vulnerable groups or those at risk of social exclusion; funding for running costs and the maintenance of activities; amounts allocated to finance projects aimed at improving the living conditions of groups that are particularly vulnerable due to illnesses, addictions, or physical or mental conditions; and projects or programmes seeking to protect children and adolescents.

The application period is 20 working days from the date of publication in the BOPMA, meaning it began on Thursday 15th of January and ends on the 11th of February.

Citizen participation

The 110,000 euros allocated to the citizen participation grants are intended to finance groups that promote this area of activity. The application period will begin on the 26th of January, with a deadline of 15 working days to submit the required documentation.

The requirements include being up to date with tax obligations both with general public administrations and with the Town Hall itself, being registered in the Municipal Register of Associations, and having been declared of public utility.

In this case, the eligible funding lines include the development of projects covering running costs; projects aimed at brotherhoods or parish groups; and the development of investment and equipment projects to support the organisations and improve their future initiatives.
