The councillor for Parks and Gardens at the Mijas Town Hall, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), announced in a statement that the Grand Park will reopen its doors this weekend. It should be remembered that the facility suffered damage as a result of the recent storm, which forced it to close until the necessary cleaning work could be carried out.
The facility will be fully open, meaning that access will be available through both entrances (the main entrance, via the La Morena area towards the La Alberquilla junction; and the secondary entrance, on the Cerro del Águila road, near the San Cayetano cemetery). Each entrance has an adjoining car park.
This will allow visitors to access all areas of the Grand Park, and all children’s playgrounds will be open, as well as the sports areas and the dog area.

The Town Hall reminds residents that the access and presence of motorised vehicles (electric scooters and motorcycles) will be prohibited, and that they must be parked outside the facility. It also explains that private security will be coordinated with the Mijas Local Police to step up surveillance and ensure user safety. Opening hours will be from 9:00 to 19:00 hours.
The Mijas Grand Park, covering an area of 270,000 square metres, is the largest urban facility of its kind in Andalusia. The Town Hall points out in its statement that it is located in a flood-prone area, hence the inconvenience caused when storms such as the recent wind and rain episode occur.
