On Saturday, 20th of December, the sponsors of the Soroptimist Mijas Unión Basket women’s team paid a special visit to the La Cala sports hall to celebrate a Christmas day with the athletes and present them with gifts. Members of Soroptimist International Costa del Sol, together with the players, enjoyed a very special afternoon, which coincided with a match played by the local team. The players secured a 50-40 victory over Century 21 Blue CB from San Pedro in a closely contested game that kept the excitement alive until the very end. After the match, the athletes received gift bags containing traditional Christmas chocolates, basketball socks, and a selection of seasonal fruits. The project coordinator, Aura Roderick, highlighted the atmosphere during the day: “Everyone, both members and young players, had a pleasant time filled with warmth and Christmas spirit”, emphasising the value of this type of gathering.
