On Tuesday 25th of November, the councillor for Foreigners at the Mijas Town Hall, Mario Bravo (PP), announced the Christmas programme of the department he heads, which will take place between the 30th of November and the 10th of December in La Cala de Mijas. "With this, we aim to meet the needs and entertainment of the large foreign community which, as you know, exceeds 40% of the population in Mijas", said the councillor, adding that the collaboration of groups, associations and entities is essential to carry out these activities, which are organised jointly with the Department for Foreigners.
Bravo stressed that "many of the foreigners who are here with us miss their families, and it is good that we are able to organise activities for socialising in our area, something that we have been doing at the Foreigners' Department for 40 years and are well known for".
Programme of activities
The Christmas programme kicks off in style with the Lions Club Christmas Fair on the 30th of November in the Butibamba Park (from 11 to 16 hours). "We will have performances by Víctor Rojas, The Fabulous Phoenix Singers, children from the FAMA dance academy, rides in our magical tuktuk with Santa's elves, craft stalls, as well as toys for the children", said the representative of the La Cala Lions Club, Sandy Tavendale, who thanked the Town Hall for its support.

Once again, the TAPAS Choir will offer its International Christmas Concert on the 4th of December at the La Cala Branch Office at 17 hours, while on the 6th at 16 hours in the same space, the FAMA Academy will present its Christmas show.
As a new feature, the Czech Cultural Association is organising the 'Czech Republic sings Christmas carols' event, where there will be traditional food and mulled wine, they say, "to enjoy the true Christmas spirit".
Conference
In addition to these activities, there will be an informative talk addressing legislative issues of interest to foreign residents, including tourist licences, inheritance and wills, tax residence, and how they will be affected by the British government's budget, which was presented a day after the announcement of these activities. "From 2027 onwards, there will be a series of significant changes" affecting British citizens who have been living outside the UK for ten years or more, said Blacktower's associate director, Tim Govaerts. My Lawyers in Spain will also participate in these conferences, which will take place on Tuesday 2nd of December in the auditorium of the La Cala Branch Office, starting at 16 hours.
