The Beaches Department of the Mijas Town Hall has given a positive assessment of the recent improvement and refurbishment work carried out at various points along the Mijas coastline. As a result, "the municipal beaches are now in perfect condition", confirmed the councillor for the area, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), on Wednesday.
Among the tasks completed, Gómez Teruel highlighted that "the areas equipped for people with reduced mobility have been painted, and cordoned off, making the beaches, car parks and bicycle parking areas even more accessible".
All this work is part of the necessary process for Mijas to renew its Blue Flags and Q for Quality certificates this September. "By continuing along these lines", said the councillor, "we will achieve these certifications, just as we did last year when we regained the Blue Flag for the Riviera Beach".
A joint effort
The councillor also thanked all those involved in the maintenance and improvement of the municipality's beaches, "because thanks to the work carried out by the municipal staff, the beach manager, the environmental and beach technicians, and also the Basic Income workers, we have idyllic beaches", said the councillor.
According to the councillor, "you only have to step outside the municipality and see what other towns have to offer to appreciate what we’ve achieved here. It makes us feel very proud of our coastline, of the work we do and of the fact that our beaches are in top condition 365 days a year", he concluded.
