Between the 30th of September and the 24th of October, four groups of senior citizens will travel to Matalascañas, Huelva. Applications can be submitted until 13th of August in person at the Senior Citizens’ Office at the Las Lagunas Active Participation Centre (Hogar del Jubilado), or at the Town Hall and branch offices. Applications can also be submitted online. “We invite all seniors to sign up... it’s a trip to the coast of Huelva, to Matalascañas, and there will be four groups”, said the councillor for Senior Citizens, Silvia Marín (PP). To register, those interested must present their membership card and original ID card to complete the application form.
Each group will enjoy a four-day, three-night stay at a four-star all-inclusive hotel in Matalascañas. “There are lots of activities planned, including excursions to Doñana and various parts of Huelva, but above all, we want our seniors to go with the spirit of having a great time”, said Marín.
To register, applicants must be residents of the municipality of Mijas and hold a valid membership card from one of the active participation centres or senior citizens’ centres in the town. They must also have been registered as residents of Mijas for at least five years, be able to manage their daily activities independently and not suffer from behavioural disorders or from any communicable diseases that could pose a risk of infection.
Once the registration period has ended, a provisional list of accepted and rejected applications will be published. A period of 10 working days will be granted to rectify any issues, after which the final list of accepted applicants will be released. “There are 1,600 places available. In the terms and conditions, we have stated that if the number of accepted applications exceeds the number of places available, a draw will be held and a date will be set for this”, said the councillor for the Senior Citizens, who called for calm, because “in the end, everyone gets to go, as there are vacancies for reasons beyond the control of the elderly and everyone will go, so don’t worry”.

The public price for the senior’s trip for senior citizens is 6.50 euros per person, per stay. Payment must be made by bank card or bank transfer once the places have been allocated (see dossier). Once payment has been confirmed, the travel ticket with the allocated place will be issued at the senior citizens’ offices of the active participation centres and the Senior citizens’ centre in Mijas.
