In July, Mijas recorded a total of 5,369 unemployed people, representing a year-on-year decrease of 2.59%. These figures are positive news, as they mark the lowest unemployment level recorded since December 2008. In addition, they represent a decrease of 134 people compared to the same month last year.
As for the affiliation data corresponding to May, the lastest month for which statistics are available, Mijas registered a total of 28,261 people affiliated with the Social Security system, representing an increase of 194 compared to the previous month.
For the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), "these figures show that jobs are being created in Mijas, so from the Town Hall we will continue to promote employment policies to help the people of Mijas enter the labour market".
