On Tuesday 22nd of July, the La Cala de Mijas Fair and Festivities 2025 officially began. The festivities kicked off with Special Children's Day, when the rides at the fairground were available at a special reduced price of €2.50, drawing crowds of both children and adults.

Tribute dinner for the elderly

The elderly of La Cala were also in the spotlight. More than 220 residents enjoyed their tribute dinner for the fair 2025, surrounded by friends, family and a great atmosphere. To liven up the evening, the Ritmo Andaluz band performed a warm welcome for the guests, who were treated to a menu featuring starters including Malaga salad, prawns, bacon-wrapped dates, followed by a main course of pork loin in sauce with rice, and chocolate cake for dessert. As is tradition at the fair, the Department for Senior Citizens held a draw to choose this year's Grandfather and Grandmother, who were Ana María Berdugo and Manuel Sena. Bachata, pasodobles, salsa and sevillanas set the tone for an evening of dancing, thanks to the Ritmo Andaluz Show band.

Official opening

At around 22:30 hours, the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), together with the government team, the festivities committee, local groups and residents, officially inaugurated the fair with the switching on of the artistic lighting and the traditional ribbon cutting, thus marking the start of six days of festivities, which this year feature one of the largest Ferris wheels in Andalusia.

Performance by Manuel Orta

To round off the night, Sevillian singer Manuel Orta took to the stage at the municipal booth to get the crowd dancing with his rumbas and sevillanas.
