The Culture Department of Mijas Town Hall has presented the 16th edition of the 'Enfoca Mijas' photography marathon, which, as usual, will be dedicated to the memory of Mijas photographer Jesús Jaime Mota.
The big photo shoot will take place on Sunday, June 1st, starting at 10 hours, but those interested have until Friday 30th, at 14 hours, to register by emailing maraton.enfoca.mijas@mijas.es. This was announced by the councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), who highlighted the excellent response the event receives every year. And it’s no surprise, because as the councillor said, “it’s a unique opportunity for photography enthusiast, as they can not only enjoy their hobby but also discover the many possibilities that Mijas has to offer. In fact, participants will be able to visit some of the most iconic sites in our municipality free of charge, such as the Torreón de La Cala, the Manuel España Theatre, the bullring, the Casa Museo, the Carromato de Max miniature museum and the CAC Mijas".
Enfoca Mijas hopes to attract more than 150 participants. Everyone must check in before 12 hours, when the themes for the marathon will be revealed. Each participant may submit a maximum of two photos per theme; the selected works must be sent to the same email address (maraton.enfoca.mijas@mijas.es) by 14 hours on June 5th. Images must be in JPEG format and no larger than 4MB.
A jury will select 30 images to be featured in an exhibition at the Mijas Pueblo Folk Museum. In addition, five prizes will be awarded to the best photographs. The jury’s decision and the award ceremony will take place at the Town Hall on Friday 27th of June at 19:30 hours, where a video montage featuring this year’s entries will also be screened.
