The Mijas Town Hall, through the Family and Equal Opportunities Department, is launching ‘Mijas Conciliadora 2025’, a project whose main objective is to support work-life balance for families by offering a free play centre service for children. This was announced by the mayoress of Mijas and responsible for the area, Ana Mata (PP), on Monday 12th, who stated that "with this service we aim to alleviate that burden, allowing parents and guardians to meet their work responsibilities, while their children receive care, support and recreational and educational activities outside school hours".
This is a project subsidised by the Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality and financed with funds from the Ministry of Equality, the Secretary of State for Equality and the Eradication of Violence against Women within the framework of the Co-responsibilities plan, which has already started and will be available until the 21st of September.
All activities will take place at the Social Services Centre in Las Lagunas and there are 60 places available. To access, it is necessary to submit an application along with the required documentation, specifying the number of hours per week, as well as the days and months the service is needed. Further information can be obtained from the Social Inclusion Department of the Mijas Town Hall on 682 197 063.
Children aged between 4 and 14 years, who use this service, will be accompanied by a supervisor and a facilitator. The service will run from 15:30 to 20:30 Monday to Friday until the beginning of summer, divided into two time slots: 15:30 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 20:30 hours. Families can opt for either the full afternoon or a single time slot. In the summer, July and August, the service will shift to the morning, offering a small free summer school from 08:30 to 14:00.
The planned activities, which will be divided into various groups and adapted to the ages and needs of the children, range from school support to games and crafts, as well as work on values, "so that we not only provide a space where children receive academic and emotional support, but we also offer families peace of mind, knowing that their children are in a trusted environment while they can continue with their work obligations", said the mayoress.
