On the 25th, the Town Hall organised a new talk for foreign residents to inform them about different matters of economic, fiscal and legal interest. The meeting had the collaboration of different professional experts in each subject. These informative talks, organised by the Foreigners Department, are attended by a large number of people interested in the topics to be discussed. According to the councillor for the area, Mario Bravo (PP), “with these regular meetings we provide information on current legislation and on the latest developments in economic matters. The aim is to provide all the information and respond to any question they might have. We have a foreign population here, almost exclusively English-speaking, and our aim is to make their lives easier”.
Lawyer Patricia Ruiz, from the company My Lawer in Spain, was in charge of explaining the new developments regarding holiday rentals. According to Bravo, “holiday rentals are very important in Mijas because we have very few hotels and many properties for rent. Sometimes these have an irregular situation. The latest updates on tourist rentals will have a big impact in Mijas, where we have almost 9,000 dwellings of this type. This issue is of great concern to foreigners, as the regulations will come into force in April”.
