The Spanish travel magazine National Geographic has presented the third edition of the ‘Readers’ Awards', this time with 80 proposals to choose the best destinations, hotels, projects and airlines around the world. The contest establishes a total of 16 categories and the hotel La Zambra from Mijas has managed to sneak into one of them, the best Spanish hotel located in a natural environment. "For us it is an honour to opt for these awards, especially in this category, where the natural setting is highly valued, and we have very large gardens, with indigenous vegetation, very close to the golf courses and, most importantly, with spectacular views of the Sierra de Mijas", said Joost Kruissen, general manager of La Zambra, on Wednesday 12th.
According to the travel section of this well-known tourist publication, the Mijas establishment fuses elegance and Andalusian charm in a privileged natural setting. Along with the Mijas hotel, four other establishments in Lanzarote, Sotogrande, Asturias and the Costa Brava have also been nominated. "We are the only hotel in the province to compete for these awards, and it is something we are very proud of because there are very good hotels on the Costa del Sol, but we always say that our location is excellent and unique", said Kruissen.

If you want to support the candidacy of Mijas, you only have to access the website of the National Geographic magazine. Voting will continue until the 21st of February and the results will be announced on the 25th. Each vote, therefore, can be definitive, "so we encourage our neighbours to give us a hand, and I think we have a chance of winning because of our good location and our magnificent surroundings, but it is the readers and citizens who have to vote for us to get this great prize", concluded the head of La Zambra.
