There are several events, in addition to the charity market, in which many local collectives take part

The Mijas Foreigners Department invites us to celebrate Christmas with them. As every year they have designed an extensive programme of activities which includes two Christmas fairs, the traditional concert of the TAPAS choir, and the FAMA Christmas dance show. “These shows are not only for the residents but also for visitors or even for neighbours from other municipalities. Mijas is becoming more and more attractive every day and from the Town Hall we want to continue to promote all these activities, both organised by us and organised in conjunction with these associations that are so numerous and do so much good”, explained the councillor responsible for the Foreigners Department, Mario Bravo (PP).

The programme will begin on the 1st of December with the Christmas fair organised by the Lions Club in the Butibamba Park in La Cala. This fair will be followed on the 3rd of December by the concert of the TAPAS Choir; on the 9th, the FAMA show; and on the 15th, the Fair of the Domestic Animal Shelter in Mijas, PAD.  In addition, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, between the 4th and 28th of December, a charity market will take place in front of La Cala Branch Office, in which different associations and NGOs will participate to raise funds for their causes. Mijas also joins the fifth German Cinema Week, organised by ‘Diario Sur’ next Wednesday 27th, at 19 hours.

Solidarity Tables

Once again, the solidarity tables in La Cala Branch Office Square are part of the programme of activities organised by the Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall. On this occasion, the theme, as usual, is Christmas, so they suggest, through the title ‘Make solidarity your gift this Christmas’, that we go on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from the 4th to the 28th of December, to stroll around the seaside town in search of presents for our family and friends. “It is a charity market that is held throughout the year, but which intensifies more in December, with the arrival of Christmas and the arrival of many tourists”, said Bravo.

Christmas Fair

One of the first dates will be on the 1st of December with the Christmas fair organised by the Lions Club in the Butibamba Park in La Cala. “We would like to thank the Mijas Town Hall and the Foreigners Department for carrying out this initiative”, said the club’s vice-president, Sandy Tevendly. The event will start at 11 hours and will include craft stalls and a visit from Santa Claus.

International Christmas Concert

There is no Christmas in our municipality without the traditional concert of international Christmas carols organised by the Foreigners department in collaboration with the TAPAS choir. This year’s event will take place on the 3rd of December at 17:00 hours at La Cala Branch Office, where this group with 25 years of experience will delight the audience with a wide repertoire of Christmas music. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.

FAMA dance show

The magic of Christmas will flood La Cala Branch Office on the 9th of December, at 13:00 hours, thanks to the artists of the FAMA academy, who will perform their Christmas ballet show to delight and surprise both young and old alike.

PAD Market

The Protectora de Animales Domésticos (Domestic Animal Shelter), PAD, will also set up its solidarity tables in La Cala Branch Office Square on the 15th of December from 11:00 to 15:00 hours. The collective will be offering clothes, Christmas gifts, decorations and accessories, among other things.

V German Cinema Week

Mijas joins the fifth German Cinema Week, organised by ‘Diario Sur’ and which will take place next Wednesday 27th, at 19:00 hours, in the Assembly Hall of the Mijas Town Hall, where the award-winning German-Belgian film ‘Wann wird es endlich wieder so, wie es nie war’, directed by the director Sonja Heiss, will be screened. The film tells the story of Joachim Meyerhoff’s childhood and youth as the son of the director of a psychiatric hospital. “We want to invite all everyone interested in this type of cinema, even if they don’t know German, because the film is subtitled in Spanish, and especially all Germans who live in this area and can enjoy this film for free”, concluded the councillor for foreigners.
