The Spanish Associations Against Cancer (AECC) of Mijas and Fuengirola join forces to publish a solidarity calendar and raise funds for research. The calendar features photographs taken by the students of the photography workshops of the UP of Mijas and Fuengirola and the production of Mijas Comunicación. A total of 2,000 copies have been published which, on this occasion, have been financed by the Malaga Provincial Council.

The presentation of the calendars took place on the 6th of November at the Centre for Active Participation in Las Lagunas. The president of the delegation in Mijas, Lola Sanchís, explained that “patients, workers, physiotherapists, social workers, psychologists, etc. have collaborated in this calendar”. Sanchís also highlighted the participation of the photographers, who are students of the UP of Mijas and Fuengirola, and the production of Mijas Comunicación”.

This year, the initiative has a slogan that governs the entire campaign, ‘Elige siempre el color de la vida’ (‘Always choose the colour of life’). “In this calendar we try to transmit our values to all those who buy it. We encourage them to look at the photos and we want them to know that there is life, there is joy and colour, something that the collaborating photographers have managed to convey perfectly”, said Sanchís.

The funds raised will be used to finance cancer research, as well as providing help and advice to families and people suffering from cancer. The calendars can be purchased at the AECC headquarters in Fuengirola or by calling 900 100 036.

The Mijas Town Hall also supports this cause. The councillor responsible for the Universidad Popular, Melisa Ceballos (PP), also present at this presentation, took the opportunity to “thank the AECC, which has relied on the UP to produce these calendars, which are wonderful. Students from the photography workshop have participated and I hope that they sell all the copies and raise a lot of funds”.
