Journalist Rosa Villacastín, designer Petro Valverde, the tailor Fran Gallardo and Dione Pertegaz, niece of the master of Haute Couture, took part in the event

Mijas celebrated on Sunday 3rd of November a party dedicated to fashion, the I Fashion Day, which included a parade of new talents and round tables where the experts offered different approaches about this sector and where the journalist Rosa Villacastín, the designer Petro Valverde, the couturier Fran Gallardo and Dione Pertegaz, niece of the master of Haute Couture took part.

"From the Town Hall and from the Department of Culture, we want to lay the foundations so that, in Mijas, fashion becomes a benchmark; because I think we have all the elements to achieve this", said the counicllor of the department, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP).

Fashion is also culture, it is a visual language and a way to express ourselves.

"It is a day that we are going to dedicate to Valencia and also to fashion which unites tradition, culture and innovation; it is going to be a very nice day where we are going to have two working forums", highlighted Euprepio Padula, president of Padula and Partners.

"We are very proud that Mijas has hosted this fashion day and if everything goes well, next year we will host a bigger one", said the sailor Fran Gallardo.

Fashion show, round tables and music

Music was also part of this event with Ana María Delgado, a promising young flamenco singer. "Being here today means a lot to me, it means that all the work I have done has paid off, so I am really happy to be here with all the designers", said Delgado.

The I Mijas Fashion Day was a debate on tradition and avant-garde, and the impact of the economy on fashion was also discussed. These were the topics discussed by the experts in a meeting that took place inside the theatre. Outside, the singer Pilar Jurado opened the fashion show of the young talents, a contest that won Gabriel Carus, from Marbella Design Academy, who highlighted that "we have come here today to exhibit my dress and it so happens that I have won; it would not have been possible without all my colleagues who have participated and, to tell the truth, I am very grateful".
