The second day of the senior citizens' trip dawned sunny and bright in the city of Melilla. The third shift went on their various excursions, such as the bullring and also the city centre, accompanied by an almost summery and spectacular weather, a far cry from the rains and storms that we are having here.
After a good night's rest and a hearty breakfast, and already recovered from the boat trip, the 200 senior citizens' started their second day of holidays under a radiant sun that accompanied them throughout the morning. According to the councillor for the Elderly, Silvia Marín (PP), "‘today in Melilla is a fantastic day and the sun will be with us all day so we can enjoy the magnificent excursions that we have planned. Today, we will get to know the bullring in depth and then we will go to the city centre to see the oldest part of the city. We will be able to go shopping, visit the cultural and modernist buildings. I hope that all our seniors enjoy this beautiful environment in Melilla".
According to the seniors, they have recovered from yesterday's journey and the occasional seasickness and were ready for a morning of sightseeing. The bullring provided plenty of jokes and laughter, as well as a few 'paseíllos' (bullfighting parades). A very happy and lively visit that brought out many old stories and hobbies of these seniors. In addition, the group was able to tour the building and discover some of the most surprising rooms, such as the infirmary or the chapel.
During the rest of the morning they had free time to stroll around the centre and do some shopping. In the afternoon, it was time for more visits. The group spent these hours discovering the oldest part of Melilla, called Melilla la Vieja, and another very different area, the modernist Melilla.
Sofía Arías, coordinator of the trip on behalf of the agency Halcón Viajes, pointed out that "after the visit to the bullring, we walked to the city centre, to the area of the Hernández Park, which is wonderful. There we always give them explanations about the area and then we have some free time. The most interesting part will come after having lunch at the hotel. Then the excursions to the different areas of Melilla that are worth visiting will start".
After the afternoon outings, the seniors went back to the hotel where they enjoyed a delicious dinner and a lively evening.
