The Mijas Felina association is organising a charity paella on Sunday 27th of October to raise funds. The lunch will be held at Roberto's restaurant in Calahonda and there will also be a flea market with handicrafts and items related to cats. At the event they will also be selling their 2025 charity calendar.
Mijas Felina is once again asking for everyone's collaboration. On this occasion we are invited to attend their solidarity paella, for only 7 euros, or to collaborate with the association with an ‘empty plate’ if you can not attend. The secretary of the association, Manuela Bernardo told us that "as well as paella there will also be a delicious sponge cake made by the members of Mijas Felina" and explained that all the money raised "will be used to continue helping stray cats, which are now called community cats, to feed them, help them when they are sick or injured and to give them up for adoption".
Roberto's Restaurant in Calahonda is collaborating with the collective to help them in their mission of maintaining colonies, neutering and finding foster homes and new families for these kittens. The owner of the restaurant, Roberto González, told us that "this is the fifth year that we collaborate with them, making a paella and donating all the proceeds".
The association is asking for reservations to be made in order to anticipate the number of people attending, which on other occasions has reached 150 people. Reservations can be made at the restaurant or by calling 666 87 4 741. The group will also organise a craft market with items for kittens and will sell its charity calendar. The event will start on Sunday at 13:00 and will run until 16:00 hours. Finally Manuela Bernanrdo pointed out that they need volunteers, "both for the adoption group and for the flea market as well as for the daily feeding of the 2000 community cats in Mijas and Fuengirola".
