228,70 euros, that is the amount that the Café Bella Vista has raised thanks to the initiative ‘solidarity Mojitos’, coinciding with the celebration of the Mijas Fair. During the fair many locals and visitors took advantage of this initiative by Simone Oliveira, owner of Bella Vista, to have a mojito with rum, lime, mint and solidarity. One euro from each drink was donated to AFA Mijas.
This Wednesday the owner of the establishment, located in Mijas Pueblo, handed over the cheque to the Mijas Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's patients. "The truth is that everything has gone very well, little by little, coming here and having a mojito, is becoming a tradition with which we help the association", said Oliveira, who told how this initiative began: "it started because my husband commented that it would be nice to put a bar in front of the café to work at the fair during the afternoons. He suggested setting up a mojito bar, at first I said no, but he explained that this way we could help the association, so I said yes".
On the other hand, Mari Carmen López, director of the association's day centre, highlighted the generosity of the Café Bella Vista. "The truth is that we are very happy and hope that this solidarity action becomes a tradition, just as we have our solidarity flowers at the fair, the mojito will also become a tradition and that year after year, fair after fair, the association will also be known for this mojito", said López.
AFA Mijas attends to 25 people, the total number of places offered in its day centre. The family of Café Bella Vista is clear that they will continue to collaborate with AFA Mijas. The association is grateful for this type of collaboration, whose funds will go towards the different services it provides. For her part, the director of the centre said that ‘these contributions help us to continue offering the centre's services".
