The second edition of this solidarity initiative, which was held last Saturday, was a great success

There is no better reward than helping a foundation like Cudeca, which has been caring for palliative patients and their families for 32 years. There is no better reward than helping a foundation like Cudeca, which has been caring for palliative patients and their families for 32 years. This is clear to the family of Bar La Palma, located in Calle San Bruno in Las Lagunas. "We have been linked to Cudeca because my brother was there, he was a patient, and when we took over the bar, my mother and I decided to do a solidarity event for them every year", said Ruth González, owner of Bar La Palma. "I would like to thank Bar La Palma for doing this for the second year running, if it wasn't for people like them, Cudeca would not be able to continue", said Daniel Dánchez, Cudeca's Head of Fundraising and Communication, who added that “let's not forget that all the care, both for patients and their families, is completely free”.

The charity lunch, which was held last Saturday, was a great success in terms of participation, in fact, this year, the figure of the first edition has been exceeded and more than 2,000 euros have been raised. Among the numerous attendees was Rosario Ruiz, a local resident and member of the foundation who usually collaborates with the institution because ‘"he attention and care they give to terminal cancer patients is beyond words. The medical team, the psychologists, the nurses and the facilities are all incredible. It is a foundation that should have more recognition", she said.

Among those present were also the councillors of the government team Melisa Ceballos (PP) and Juan Carlos Cuevas Dawson (Vox). "We would like to thank Bar La Palma for organising this event for Cudeca. This year a lot of people came and next year we are going to organise it in a different way, we have already spoken to them, because the people, as you can see, are very supportive and support this cause", Ceballos pointed out.

Varied menu

The attendees enjoyed, above all, the good atmosphere on the terrace of La Palma, but also the delicious dishes prepared for the occasion. There was paella, ‘carne mechada’, Spanish omelette and a lot of cakes donated by the neighbours. A wide variety of everything", explained the owner of Bar La Palma. "I thank Bar La Palma for the work they do", said Cuevas Dawson, who also pointed out that "the work Cudeca does is impressive and replaces something that should be done by the public health system. I encourage all residents to be supportive, not only in times of need; we are here to support where we can".

Performances

The evening also included a raffle with gifts donated by individuals and businesses in the area and performances. The flamenco group formed by the singers Ismael Tamayo and Manuel Palomares, the guitar of José Antonio Rojas and the dancer Jessica Ruiz enlivened part of the afternoon. The belly dancer Jaishri, Simón Cortés and the group 'Pasaba por aquí' also performed.

La tarde contó además con el sorteo de regalos donados por particulares y comercios de la zona y espectáculos.
