On Monday morning visitors to the town were caught in the rain and did not expect to make use of the parasols as umbrellas to take shelter from the rain rather than from the sweltering August sun. The weather experts had already warned that there was a chance, albeit small, of precipitation in the early hours of Monday. In the end, two litres were collected in Mijas Pueblo.
In spite of this, the next few days will continue to be hot, with maximum temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius and high humidity levels of around 70%.
Weather change
The experts also announce an important change in the weather for the second part of the week, with the chance of light rain on Thursday and Friday. Something that gives us mixed feelings because of the upcoming transfer of the Virgen de la Peña that will take place on Thursday evening and that precedes the celebration of the Mijas Fair and its traditional procession. Some forecast models even speak of an approaching DANA after the passage of a trough on Wednesday which could bring some heavy rain, although other forecasts rule it out. It is still early, but the clouds are threatening Thursday's event, so we will keep an eye on the evolution of the weather in Mijas Pueblo.
