The Mijas Town Hall, through the Senior Citizens Department, announced that from the 23rd of August to the 5th of September, the registration period is open for the elderly of the municipality interested in participating in the trips to Granada and Melilla. In total, there are 1,600 places available, of which 1,000 will be for Granada and the rest for Melilla. The stay in each place will be four days and three nights in a double room with full board. Those interested in participating must choose a single preferred destination. Three shifts per destination have been determined. For Melilla the trips will take place from the 21st to the 24th of October, from the 25th to the 28th of October and from the 28th to the 31st of October, and for Granada the trips will take place between November and December.

Applications

Those interested should fill in their application form and hand it in at the municipal registers located at the Town Hall and at the branch offices in Las Lagunas and La Cala. They may also do so at the Centre for Active Participation in Las Lagunas and through the electronic office (www.mijas.es) by means of a digital certificate.

In case of not authorising the use of personal data by the Senior Citizens area, the interested parties must provide a copy of the DNI/NIE of the applicant and companion, a copy of the municipal membership card and a certificate of historical census registration. In the case of accompanying minors, it is compulsory to provide documentation accrediting the degree of disability of the son or daughter, while applicants with a non-member partner must provide a photocopy of the family book or certificate of registration in the register of unmarried couples or certificate of cohabitation.

Requirements 

The requirements to apply for the places are to have Spanish nationality or a residence permit in Spain, to reside in Mijas, to have a municipal membership card of one of the active participation centres or senior citizens' centres in Mijas and to have been registered in Mijas for at least five years at the date of registration, among others. If there are more applicants than places available, a public draw will be made. The public price per trip is 6.50 euros. 

 

The councillor for the area, Silvia Marín (PP), explained that due to the high volume of applications expected, the departments in charge of receiving them will be reinforced with 10 people, including the students of the administrative management course given at Fomento del Empleo.
