The Virgen del Carmen will once again walk around La Cala de Mijas on her feast day. Tomorrow, 16th of July, she will go out on the shoulders of the bearers of the parish group heading towards the beach. The procession will start at 20:45 hours after the 20:00 mass that the parish priest Juan Baena will officiate in the church Santa Teresa de Jesús, which will be broadcast live by Mijas Comunicación, and can be seen on Mijas 3.40 TV, through the website www.mijascomunicacion.com and on the social media profiles of the municipal company on YouTube and Facebook.
The statue will walk along the streets Cártama, Marbella, Ronda and Torremolinos to access the beach at the Senior Citizens Centre in La Cala and after going into the sea, the statue will return to the church through the Torreón and the streets Marbella and Cártama. On her way, the Virgen del Carmen will be accompanied by another smaller Virgin that awaits this day in her sanctuary under the sea and that every year comes to the surface thanks to the Vip Diving Group. She will also be accompanied by the Mijas Municipal Music Band.
There will also be dances and songs in honour of the Virgen del Carmen. Inside the parish church, the Unión del Cante Choir will sing for her and, just after her departure, the Association Folklorica Sur de Andalucía will dance some sevillanas for her. Afterwards, they will accompany the Virgin to dance again in Marbella Street. Then, the Unión del Cante Choir will sing again before the statue goes into the sea and in the Torreón square, where there will be a stage.
