Remodelling of pavements in Avenida La Sierrezuela

  • Las obras responden a una demanda vecinal de hace años, según el Ayuntamiento.

"All obstacles will be removed to make this avenue accessible to everyone"

Mijas Town Hall has earmarked more than 130,000 euros for the remodelling of pavements in Avenida La Sierrezuela. The improvements will eliminate architectural barriers along the entire road. The Operational Services are working on the renovation of this area.

The Councillor for Operational Services, Daniel Gómez Teruel, explained that "this is a long-standing neighbourhood demand to change the pavements on both sides of this avenue and also to renew the lighting and water pipes". The work began a month ago and as he said, "we intend to finish as soon as possible".

As the councillor explained, the Town Hall is investing 130,572 euros in these works, that are focused on remodelling the pavement, as well as improving accessibility elements, eliminating architectural barriers, adapting the pedestrian crossings and implementing tactile paving for the visually impaired. "All obstacles will be removed to make this avenue accessible to everyone", said Gómez Teruel.

The existing tree pits will also be improved and drainage paving will be installed to optimise irrigation, aesthetics and maintenance.

As the councillor added, "the project covers around 800 square metres and the aim is to improve and modernise the street, in line with the aesthetics of the rest of the municipality”, and also includes changing the streetlights, replacing them with energy-saving luminaires which, in addition to reducing electricity consumption, are environmentally friendly since the gas emissions are reduced.
