The Mijas Town Hall informs that, "due to the serious drought situation we are suffering and as a measure to preserve water resources", from Friday 21st of June, the footbaths and drinking water fountains along the coastline will be closed. Only the showers located in the adapted bathing areas and public toilets will remain open.
On the Mijas coast, there are a total of 32 footbaths and 8 drinking water fountains, which will remain, for the moment and until further notice, without water.
"We consider this to be a responsible decision in view of the serious water shortage we are suffering and, furthermore, other municipalities have adopted the same measure. We appeal to the responsibility and understanding of the citizens, this is for the good of all. I remind you that the sand we have in the beaches of Mijas can easily be cleared, so we hope that this action will not cause much inconvenience", said the councillor for Beaches, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP).
