Las Lagunas is ready to celebrate one of its oldest traditions: the pilgrimage (romería) in honour of its patron saint, the Virgen de la Paz, which will take place on Sunday 26th, after the mass that will be celebrated at 10:30 am in the church San Manuel González.
The parish priest José María Ramos, during the presentation, recalled that, this year, "will be the fortieth time that I will have the great joy of participating in the pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Paz, well, God willing", he said, while noting that "this is an event to have a good time, but also to remember why it is done, and to remember that we always have a good time if we try to make others happy, not to make ourselves happy".
The official presentation of the poster was also attended by the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), and part of the municipal corporation. Mata invited "the neighbours to share this festivity with joy, but also with gratitude to the Virgen de la Paz for accompanying us throughout the year".
The mayoress also thanked the parish priest Ramos and the president of the Brotherhood Jesus Vivo, Manuel Ordóñez, for promoting this tradition, which has been celebrated with great joy for four decades with the support of the Town Hall. The councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Silvia Marín (PP), also invited "the neighbours to take part in their pilgrimage; wishing them a beautiful day that will include performances, catering, paella and a bar managed by the Federation of Associations of Mijas. In addition, there will be live music and the traditional competitions of carts and pilgrims of the year".

As for Ordóñez, he thanked "all the people who make this event and the pilgrimage possible, such as Mijas Comunicación, because once again we have had their collaboration for this poster which shows the essence of our patron saint and her pilgrimage".
