Every year 47,000 cases of colon cancer are diagnosed in Spain

The Mijas delegation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) is organising the walk 'Mijas en marcha contra el cáncer' on the occasion of the World Day Against Colon Cancer (31st of March). The appointment will be this Sunday in La Cala, "we will leave at 11 am from the municipal office of La Cala, first there will be a zumba class, because the motto of the campaign is 'Move your bum', what better way to move your bum than a zumba class, so we will leave from there at eleven and walk along the coastal path", explained the president of the group, Lola Sanchís. This is a non-competitive walk, suitable for everyone, even pets can take part. The registration fee is five euros, which can be paid before the start of the walk or by using the QR code on the promotional posters.

During the presentation of the event, Sanchís reported that "last year 47,000 cases of colon cancer were diagnosed in Spain". In this regard, the president of the AECC Mijas added that "colon cancer affects more men than women and it would be good for everyone to be aware of prevention, because it is a silent cancer, it does not show its face, but it can be prevented, and if it is detected early, 9 out of 10 people with colon cancer save their lives".

Course on dermocosmetics and skin care

For the month of March the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Mijas is also planning to hold the first course in dermocosmetics and basic skin care for cancer patients. This will take place at the Clínica de Medicina Estética Alarcón, (located at Calle Camino de Santiago, 79, in Las Lagunas), on Wednesday 21st at 17:00 hours.  "They are going to teach us how to treat our skin, how to take care of it, how to apply make-up, because a person may have had an illness, but that doesn't mean they are no longer beautiful. They don't have to stop taking care of themselves and applying make-up. So they are going to teach us all these types of make-up techniques and skin care", concluded Sanchís. The course is aimed at oncology patients and bookings can be made by calling 624 344 296.
