In the search carried out in a courier company, 20 packed boxes containing 389 kilograms of hashish were seized

Agents belonging to the Main Post of the Civil Guard in Mijas have carried out the so-called Operation Carpenter, in which they have dismantled a criminal group dedicated to sending drugs to European countries via courier companies in the province of Malaga.

The investigation began last summer when the agents, after analysing a large amount of information previously obtained, became aware that a criminal group was sending different types of drugs, mainly hashish, to European countries by means of courier services.

After close surveillance, the investigators were able to determine that one of these courier companies, in addition to sending drugs, was also being used by the organisation as a 'nursery', that is to say, they stored the drugs in their facilities until they were sent hidden in containers with furniture. At the same time, the investigators were keeping an eye on the members of the organisation who were hiding in a hotel complex located in Estepona.

Seizure of drugs

During the operation, the agents detected a van that deposited several large boxes in one of these transport companies. When the investigators searched the van, they found 20 boxes perfectly packed as household goods, with 389 kilograms of hashish hidden inside. In addition, during the search of the same company, the agents seized 123 grams of marijuana buds, 17 grams of MDMA and 20 grams of cocaine.

Arrests

As a result of the operation, three people of English, Swedish and Thai nationality have been arrested, and three others have been investigated. The detainees have been brought before the courts for allegedly committing crimes against public health and belonging to a criminal organisation, and have been sentenced to prison.
