The forecasts have not failed. The rainfall began yesterday evening, Thursday, weakly and increased in intensity during the early hours of Friday morning. Today, throughout the day, it has remained widespread and constant, leaving about 42 litres per square metre in Mijas Pueblo and Las Lagunas. Strong gusts of wind have also been recorded, up to 66 kilometres per hour in Las Lagunas and 48 in the town.
As for the rest of the province, last night almost 60 litres per square metre were recorded in some places, specifically in Los Reales (Estepona) and in Majada de Las Lomas (Cortes de la Frontera), according to data from the Junta de Andalucía's Hidrosur Network. The arrival of the rain has also left us with moderate temperatures, which have not exceeded 19 degrees.
The water left behind by the Karlotta squall is benefiting the Malaga countryside, although it is not enough to bring the province's reservoirs out of a critical state, as the last rains were 20 days ago and were not very heavy. The accumulated rainfall over the last 12 hours at the Concepción reservoir is almost 29 litres per square metre, followed by La Viñuela with 19.3 litres, according to the Hidrosur Network.
