In addition to toys, this year the families have also brought typical products for this time of the year. In total, around 50 kilos were collected and on Monday 18th they were delivered to 'Cruz Roja Mijas'.
“We have to thank the families because they are the main collaborators; we are very happy because they get so involved”, highlighted the director of the centre, Alicia Castillo. The councillor for Social Inclusion, Melisa Ceballos (PP), pointed out that “it is important that we raise awareness that there are other people who are having a hard time and that this Christmas we have to show a little more solidarity”. Small gestures by many families will undoubtedly help to ensure that in the most disadvantaged homes there will also be presents for the little ones on Christmas Day and products on the table for the festive season.
“We would like to thank this nursery school for its involvement with the families most in need, especially at this special time of year, which means extra expenses for all families and even more so for vulnerable families”, highlighted the technician of the Mijas Red Cross, Carmen Nieto. It was a very special morning at the centre, because they also received a visit from a group of very funny elves, who made both children and adults dance and sing with the carol ‘Mi burrito sabanero’. “They told us that we had to do something and since we came to fix the tree and the elves’ house, we said: let’s go all out! So we started looking for Christmas carols, and this is the liveliest one so that the children could dance too”, said Celina Ruiz, one of the organising mothers. “They put on a great show, they danced really well and we all had a great time”, added Alicia Castillo.
