The beginning of the school year 2023-2024 has been marked by the problem of the lack of extracurricular activities. For the first time in more than two decades in Andalusia, these did not start at the beginning of October due to the delay in the awarding of the service and the signing of the contracts by the Andalusian Regional Government. The situation generated criticism from families who take advantage of this programme to reconcile work and family life. Finally, three weeks later, the schools have opened their doors to offer the different activities (sports, artistic or linguistic), which are carried out after school hours. Since Monday, the Andalusian Public Agency has been informing the schools that they are authorised to start these activities. Once the authorisation has been received from the Regional Ministry of Education, the management teams of the centres have begun to notify the families via iPassen, messages that were received with great relief.

Among the first to start the activities in Mijas are the Virgen de La Peña, Los Campanales and San Sebastián schools, which did so on Tuesday 24th, while El Albero, María Zambrano, Jardín Botánico and Indira Gandhi did so on Wednesday 25th, and Las Cañadas on Monday 30th. In El Chaparral and Los Claveles the extracurricular activities are scheduled to start on November 2nd. The Junta is still notifying the schools of the authorisation, in fact, in two schools, Tamixa and El Olmo, on writing this article, had not yet received it, therefore, they have not yet confirmed the date of the start of the extracurricular activities. 

As for the amount to be paid for the month of October, companies such as Educajunior have informed the schools that only the last week will be charged according to the corresponding bonus and not the full monthly payment.
