With an extensive sports programme, the Harp Bar in Calahonda is sadly forced to close its doors after being burnt to the ground in the early hours of this morning yesterday. During the last few days, the customers of this establishment had been enjoying the start of the Rugby World Cup, which is being played in France and yesterday, just before the fire, the broadcasting of matches for this weekend was announced. However, at 5:22 hours, Bomberos Mijas received a call alerting them about a fire. The Fire Brigade reports that the fire originated on the terrace and spread to the interior, which, it says, was badly affected. Five firefighters and two fire engines were involved, and the work was completed at around 7:10 hours. 

Officers from the Mijas Local Police and Guardia Civil were also in the area and are carrying out the investigation. According to the owner of the pub, Zoltan Eisenberger, with whom this newspaper has been able to speak, the security cameras recorded a subject in the establishment, so he concludes that it was intentional. He also assures that he has not had any confrontation with surrounding establishments, neighbours, or with any customer.

Likewise, through social networks, the Harp Bar has expressed its "bewilderment" and "dismay at this unfortunate" event and assured that it will return to "rebuild our wonderful little bar". They have also made public their gratitude for the expressions of support they have received, "which mean a lot to us".
