The councillors for Infrastructures and Works and Contracting, José Carlos Martín (Cs) and Roy Pérez (PSOE) respectively, informed on Wednesday 20th that three projects in the area of Las Lagunas had been put out to tender. Firstly, the complete remodelling of Calle Río Darro, in the area around Molino de Viento, which will include a new parking project as well as a roundabout to increase safety in the area. On the other hand, the area around the Carmen Sáenz de Tejada and Andalucía avenues will house a new sewage collector whose objective will be to connect the entire existing rainwater network in the area of the water park and surroundings. Finally, the Town Hall is opening the tendering process for the construction of a new sewage pipe in Calle Verónica, specifically on the bridge that joins this road with Calle San Bernardo, crossing the A-7 motorway to connect the existing sewers in the northern and southern areas of Las Lagunas and continue to tackle the flooding problems in this area.

During the presentation of the three projects out to tender, the councillors for Works and Contracting encouraged companies to submit their bids for the execution of the works. “As always, we invite all interested companies to apply for this tender”, said councillor Roy Pérez. Both councillors also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of the three works as regards sanitation, beautification and safety.

Regarding the works to be carried out in the area around Calle Río Darro, councillor José Carlos Martín stressed that “together with the remodelling that is also being carried out in the parallel street in the Molino de Viento area, I believe that when they are completed in this neighbourhood it will also mean an important leap in quality and we will practically close the circle of remodelling in this area, including the construction of a car park”. As for the rainwater collector to be implemented in the area of the Carmen Sáenz de Tejada and Andalucía avenues, Pérez recalled that “it is a project that historically had to be carried out and it was only fair that the whole extension of this collector should be finished to deal with the issue of flooding”.

Flooding is also to be tackled with the connection between the existing collectors on the Camino de Coín and the Los Santos neighbourhood through the construction of the sewage and rainwater drainage system that will run under the A-7 between Calle Verónica and Calle San Bernardo. “It is an important project due to the technical difficulty, in which we have needed the authorisation of the Roads Department”, concluded Martín.
