The Health Department of the Mijas Town Hall is making a new appeal to the public to donate blood. On the 16th, 17th and 18th of August, from 10 to 14 hours and from 17 to 21 hours, you can do so at the mobile unit that will be parked next to the outlet of El Corte Ingles in Las Lagunas. 

The councillor responsible for the area, Mariló Olmedo (Cs), recalled the importance of this donation. "We have to be aware that we can save lives with this gesture because when a patient needs blood there is no medicine, liquid or serum that can replace it, so donating blood is very important", said the councillor.

Summer is a time when donation takes on added value due to different circumstances. The population increases in the area and the risks of accidents and travel during these holiday months affect the availability of donors. "In summer, the population triples, and the blood bank therefore decreases, so it is important to collect now in order to always have reserves available", Olmedo stressed.

Among the requirements to be able to donate is to be of legal age, weigh more than 55 kilos and be in good health. Men can donate five times a year, women three times a year, and at least two months must pass between donations. Don't wait until it's urgent, donate blood, donate now, donate often.
