This year if we want to fully stamp the famous ‘tapaporte’ of the no less famous ‘Tapa Route’ we have to visit a total of eight establishments between cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as ice cream parlours in Mijas Pueblo.
On Tuesday 1st of August, the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), together with members of the department and his team, toured part of this tasty route to sample the gastronomic proposals first hand. “We are tasting these magnificent tapas that we have in our town, although more than tapas I would say that we have had a meal after eating two or three, because they are abundant”, said Martín. Tuesday and Thursday we have the opportunity to enjoy a drink and a tapa or an ice-cream for 3 euros on this route promoted by the Mijas Tourism Department, which is held every summer during the months of July and August, from 19:30 to 23:00 hours. And don’t forget to stamp your tapaporte. “We encourage everyone to enjoy the wonderful gastronomy of our municipality through the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’, as well as a stroll through Mijas Pueblo and, above all, to participate in those prizes that can be won afterwards and which are important prizes. In addition, everyone who participates and stamps their tapaporte gets a souvenir of our municipality”, said Martín.
Live Mijas by Night
Along with the Tapa Route, the Live Mijas by Night programme continues to refresh the summer evenings in the village. On this occasion, Mijas Comunicación was able to get to know in depth the handmade jewellery stand of Zsuzsa Toth Balogh, who participates for the first time in this programme. The stand located on the Virgen de la Peña square is mainly composed of handmade earrings, as Zsuzsa told us on Tuesday 1st of August: “they are earrings made of polymer clay, it is a mass that I work with different techniques. Each earring is different, they are all unique pieces”. She also uses other materials such as sand from different origins such as black volcanic sand from her homeland (Almeria), from Cadiz or Egypt, explained Zsuzsa. Councillor Martín also visited these craft stalls with his team.
In addition, the evening continued with a performance by the Punto Danza dance school, who delighted the audience with flamenco rhythms, as they did on Wednesday 2nd of August, when, from 22:00 hours, the Víctor Rojas dance group from the Open University performed. On Thursday 3rd it was the turn of the band Descarriados, but throughout the month there are still many more events to come.
