The 2023 senior citizens’ trip will be divided into three shifts of four nights and three days

It is one of the most awaited events for the seniors of Mijas. The 2023 senior citizens’ trip, organised by the Mijas Town Hall’s Senior Citizens’ Department, now has an official date and destination: it will be to Zahara de los Atunes (Cádiz) from September 27th to October 6th, as announced by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillor for Senior Citizens, Tamara Vera (PSOE).

“After a lot of hard work, we can now announce that our seniors will travel this year to the coastal town of Zahara de los Atunes in Cádiz. It will be a massive trip, in which some 1,500 people are expected to participate, so we have divided it into three shifts of four nights and three days, which will include excursions, guided tours, the best local cuisine and of course lots of fun”, said Gonzalez, who highlighted “that this trip has a symbolic cost of 6.5 euros so that any senior citizen of our city has the opportunity to enjoy a few days of coexistence and leisure with other seniors.

Therefore, the 2023 senior citizens’ trip will be divided into three shifts: the first shift, which will include the senior citizens of Mijas Pueblo and La Cala, will go to Zahara de los Atunes on September 27th and will return on September 30th. The second shift corresponding to Las Lagunas will be from the 30th of September to the 3rd of October. Finally, the third shift, also from Las Lagunas, given the large number of seniors in this area, will travel to the town in Cadiz from the 3rd to the 6th of October.

“It is an activity that we prepare with great affection from the Department of Senior Citizens because we know how much our seniors are looking forward to this trip,” added Vera, who said that the registration procedure “will be the same as last year. From next week, from the 7th to the 9th of August, our seniors will have to go to the offices for Pensioners in La Cala, Mijas Pueblo and Las Lagunas to pick up their ticket, which will indicate the exact date and time when they will have to sign up for the trip afterwards. I would like to ask our neighbours to come at the time they have been given so that everyone can be properly attended to”.

The dates for registration will be from 10th to 14th of August in Mijas Pueblo and La Cala and from 16th to 23rd of August in Las Lagunas. From the Senior Citizens department they remind that it is important to present your municipal pensioner’s card, a photocopy of your ID card, a completed application form and to have been registered in the municipality for three years as a prerequisite to be able to enjoy the Mijas Town Hall senior citizens’ trip.
