The remodelling work on Buganvillas and Madreselva streets, located in the centre of Las Lagunas, has been completed, in addition to the recently refurbished Calle Río Guadalete and Calle Río Tinto. The work, which has involved an investment of 1.1 million euros, provides a solution to the problem of flooding in the area.
The councillor for Works and Infrastructures of the Mijas Town Hall, José Carlos Martín (Cs), visited both roads this Wednesday to supervise the result of this extensive reform which, he said, has led to a substantial improvement in the Nueva Laguna area and, especially, in its drainage networks.
"We must remember that this was one of the black spots in Las Lagunas every time it rained, so the main action has been the installation of a separate network of rainwater and sewage, although, as always, we have also taken the opportunity to install new supply networks, electricity and LED lighting, without forgetting the new paving and the elimination of architectural barriers".
These works, according to Martín, have provided a leap in quality to this neighbourhood of Las Lagunas, "not only in the part we can all see, which is the paving, but also in the important works which, as I always say, are underground and which make it possible to improve these infrastructures".
The councillor also recalled that these works have been carried out in two phases "with the idea of not collapsing the entire road network in the area". The first works began in September last year on Calle Río Tinto and Calle Río Guadalete, while the Madreselva and Buganvillas streets began to be renovated in February.
