At this morning's ordinary plenary session, the Mijas Town Hall gave its initial approval to the modification of the ordinance regulating the proper use and enjoyment of the municipality's beaches, a document that will now go on public exhibition so that citizens can make allegations. The councillor for Beaches, José Carlos Martín (Cs), explained that the modification aims to "adapt to the new sectorial regulations that have appeared in recent years and to regulate an article related to the use and enjoyment of the dry docks of our waterways, especially related to fishing". The item was approved with the votes in favour of the government team and the abstentions of PP and Vox.
The PP, in their turn to intervene, were in favour of family tourism and criticised an increase in the number of authorisations for shaded areas for clubs; they also criticised the lack of a Beach Plan in force. "I would like to see a commitment from the government team that they are going to study the compatibility of free use of the beaches and avoid this overcrowding of seasonal concessions and to make our beaches pleasant for family tourism", said the first deputy spokesperson of the municipal Partido Popular group, Lourdes Burgos.
Martín assured Burgos that there is a Beach Plan in force and that these concessions have not increased: "This is the second Beach Plan that I have approved as councillor, there is a previous one. You said that they have grown exponentially (the concessions of shaded areas). That will be 20 years ago, because in the last eight years the Beach Plan has been exactly the same", he said.
